Jennifer Mannhard, communicate.design
Having forged a unique path in the design industry, Jennifer is a design advocate and communications consultant. Early in her architecture and urban planning career, she had the good fortune to meet, and subsequently work for and then collaborate with, one of the nation’s preeminent competition advisors. Throughout their professional relationship, they have conducted increasingly complex urban design projects and competition processes.
This work fortified Jennifer’s inherent understanding of design and selection processes and further developed her understanding of effective design communication. Having worked with some of the nation’s leading designers, she has seen first hand how various written materials and oral presentations have either helped or hindered success of the pursuit.
Jennifer takes pride in helping others to present their work in the best light. Whether it’s helping a patron procure the right design or designer for their project through design competition or RFP management, or conversely, aiding a designer in obtaining a commission or completing project documentation, she helps clients to effectively communicate their design or aspiration.
Beyond competition management, Jennifer’s skills extend to strategizing, writing, editing, and graphic layout for proposals, reports, presentations, general marketing materials, requests for and responses to proposals/qualifications, and community outreach or public meetings.
Communicate Design also provides contract project management and urban planning services for design competitions and other selection processes, community outreach, and urban design and planning projects, as well as interview preparation and coaching.
It’s about listening, asking the right questions, and translating the answers into coherent and provocative responses. It’s about creating professional environments that enable collaborators to achieve great levels of success in their assignments.
